Press release Mar 28, 2025
Planmeca is excited to bring its full portfolio of CAD/CAM products to IDS 2025, with three new products that will make digital workflows smoother than ever.
Leading the way is a brand-new Planmeca Onyx™ intraoral scanner which provides unparalleled flexibility for dental practices of all sizes. The new scanner can be operated wirelessly or with a cord, depending on user preferences and needs. This ensures uninterrupted operations in any setting, from single practices to dental schools and large group practices. The scanner introduces a new optical design that enhances speed and precision while maintaining the highest accuracy for all dental indications. Combined with an LED light source, Planmeca Onyx represents a significant step forward in intraoral scanning.
For dental laboratories and technicians, Planmeca introduces a top-class desktop scanner, Planmeca Onyx™ Lab. Equipped with two high-resolution cameras, it transforms gypsum models and impressions into digital form quickly and accurately. The scanner supports various workflows, from articulator scanning to single, multi-die, full-jaw and impressions modes, ensuring an optimal passive fit for even the most complex restorative cases.
Furthermore, Planmeca is excited to introduce a new dental 3D printer, Planmeca Creo® X, for manufacturing dental restorations, surgical guides, dental models, and various dental appliances with industry-leading precisiong. The new 3D printer combines the elegant design of its predecessor with completely redesigned technology, resulting in a durable and reliable device. It is capable of meeting the demands of even the busiest dental practices and laboratories, consistently producing highly accurate prints with every use.
“What sets Planmeca apart is our fully integrated ecosystem of CAD/CAM products and software, where every component works together seamlessly, ensuring smooth workflows at dental practices and laboratories alike. To ensure efficient chairside workflows, our new intraoral scanner will be integrated with our Planmeca Romexis® software and Planmeca PlanMill® milling units– and of course with our new 3D printer that can be used for producing dental restorations along with dental appliances and other products,” says Pontus Degerlund, CAD/CAM Director at Planmeca.
“The Planmeca Onyx Lab desktop scanner is also seamlessly integrated to our advanced designed software Planmeca PlanCAD® Premium to ensure efficiency and accuracy at dental laboratories. With these additions, we are enhancing our ability to support dental practices and laboratories more effectively than ever, providing them with state-of-the-art solutions to meet their evolving needs.”
