DM Dental chooses Planmeca for optimal daily workflows

DM Dental is a dental clinic located in Dongguan, Guangdong province in China. Founded in 2020 by Dr Xianghua Cheng, the clinic offers high-end dental services for patients in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Maca Greater Bay Area.

As a result of benchmarking a number of advanced international dental clinics for best examples, the clinic was equipped with state-of-the-art Planmeca devices. Equipping the clinic with all-time favourite dental units

Planmeca dental units were a natural choice for the newly opened DM Dental clinic. Dr Cheng started his career in 2004 working with a Planmeca unit, and Planmeca has remained his favourite ever since, despite several years of hands-on experience with other brands. Before founding DM Dental, his first own dental clinic was also equipped with two Planmeca Compact™ i Classic dental units and a Planmeca ProX™ intraoral X-ray device.

“I chose Planmeca once again for DM Dental because I feel the units truly reflect Planmeca’s principles of better patient care, safety, impeccable infection control, and effectiveness. They also include well-thought-out design details that benefit both patients and medical personnel,” Dr Cheng tells. The clinic currently has one Planmeca Compact™ i Touch unit and three Planmeca Compact i Classic units.

Infection control is naturally a priority at DM Dental as well. With Planmeca units, external infection control is easy thanks to the epoxy-coated aluminium surfaces, which are smooth, non-abrasive and seamless. The invisible internal infection control is enhanced by integrated waterline and suction tube cleaning systems.

Ideal digital workflows for one-stop dentistry

Besides Planmeca dental units, DM Dental also relies on their state-of-the-art Planmeca ProMax® 3D Classic CBCT unit. According to Dr Cheng, precise imaging results and the Planmeca Romexis® all-in-one software offer him the ideal digital workflow for one-stop dentistry. Romexis also makes patient communication easier and enables involving the patient in treatment planning.

“The Planmeca Romexis software integrates all my CBCT, panoramic and intraoral X-ray images and intraoral photos in one database. Using only one interface, I can access and browse all the information I need with just a few clicks. With Romexis, complicated cross-software workflows have become a thing of the past at my clinic,” Dr Cheng rejoices.

“The all-in-one solution and its intuitive tools, including the modules for surgical guide design and implant simulation as well as the implant library, are also very helpful for planning and performing endodontic treatments and implant surgery,” Dr Cheng continues.

Dr Cheng follows the Planmeca-advocated ALADA (As Low As Diagnostically Acceptable) imaging principle carefully and chooses the suitable patient dose for each of his customers during the first consultation. This is especially important when treating younger patients.

“Unfortunately, some parents delay dental care and might even miss the best time for a dental treatment because they are worried about potential health issues X-rays may cause for their children. Explaining how using the Planmeca Ultra Low Dose™ protocol and the child mode for imaging helps reduce patient doses alleviates this anxiety and increases treatment acceptance. As a result, children comprise a relatively high proportion of all my patients.”

In addition to integrating all patient data, Planmeca Romexis also connects all Planmeca devices at DM Dental, making management of the clinic more convenient.

Growing with Planmeca in the future

DM Dental is currently planning to take the clinic to the next level with the Planmeca FIT® chairside CAD/CAM solution.

“As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are reducing in-person contacts and shifting towards digital solutions in all areas of life, including dentistry. With a chairside CAD/CAM solution, DM Dental can offer same-day dentistry for patients and maximise their safety.
