Planmeca has introduced a new member to its growing Planmeca Viso™ product family of next generation imaging units. Combining innovative patient positioning, fantastic usability and outstanding image quality, the new Planmeca Viso™ G5 provides a cutting-edge CBCT imaging experience.

From 2D imaging to the most demanding requirements for maxillofacial diagnostics, the new Planmeca Viso™ G5 CBCT unit offers outstanding features for all users and purposes. It is an ideal addition to the Planmeca Viso™ family and perfectly complements the full skull imaging unit Planmeca Viso™ G7, which was introduced in 2017 at the International Dental Show in Cologne, Germany.

Patient positioning is done directly from the unit’s control panel utilising integrated cameras and a live video view. The operator of the unit can see the patient live from the screen for ultimate easiness and precision. The unit also supports intelligent FOV adjustments, as the volume can be placed freely and its exact size selected flexibly – anywhere between 3x3 and 20x17 cm.

As is the case with all the company’s CBCT units, Planmeca Viso G5 is capable of capturing CBCT images at an even lower dose than standard 2D images thanks to the proprietary Planmeca Ultra Low Dose™ imaging protocol. The unit also offers features for removing noise and metal artefacts from CBCT images.

Planmeca Viso G5’s imaging arm provides ample space for patients, but short image acquisition times do not leave much time for them to move – reducing the number of movement artefacts. When they do occur, the ground-breaking Planmeca CALM™ algorithm efficiently corrects these artefacts from images.

The unit’s 120 kV tube voltage option supports optimised quality for challenging imaging cases, as it ensures higher contrast images and also reduces artefacts.

“The most capable X-ray imaging platform just became more accessible,” states Timo Müller, Vice President of Planmeca’s X-ray division. “We are very excited about making the Planmeca Viso experience available to a wider community of imaging enthusiasts – offering the same great features and benefits to all.”
