Automatic segmentation of CBCT images

Our AI-powered Romexis Smart® feature streamlines the segmentation of CBCT images, automatically identifying key anatomies such as the skull, soft tissue, teeth, nerves, jaws, airways, and sinuses. This helps in assessing the anatomies for treatment planning while also enhancing case visualisation for patient education. Especially in orthognathic treatment planning, automatic segmentation can save significant time. Segmented objects can be also exported in STL format and 3D printed for further use.

Automatic location of the mandibular canal in CBCT images

Romexis Smart automates the identification of the mandibular nerve canal in CBCT images, significantly reducing manual effort. Essential for procedures like implant surgery and wisdom tooth extraction, the nerve canal is clearly distinguished in CBCT images for precise treatment planning. If necessary, the nerve can be manually edited.

Tooth number-based navigation of 3D images

The automatic anatomy recognition by Romexis Smart enables effortless navigation of CBCT volumes – simply select a tooth from the chart, and the software automatically centres all views on the selected tooth. You can rotate the volume 360 degrees while the tooth of interest remains in focus, enabling the best possible view for diagnostics and treatment planning.

Automatic fitting of CBCT images and intraoral scans

Romexis Smart automatically combines CBCT data with intraoral scans, expanding the possibilities for comprehensive digital treatment planning. This speeds up the creation of virtual setups for implant guide design or orthognathic surgery planning. In addition, Romexis allows creating a highly detailed segmented tooth model by fusing the crown from an intraoral scan and the root structures from CBCT data.

Fully integrated image diagnosis service

For intraoral and panoramic images, Planmeca Romexis® software offers seamless integration with an AI-based image analysis service. Pearl’s renowned Second Opinion® radiologic detection aid service identifies signs of various dental pathologies and conditions, including caries, calculus, bone loss, periapical radiolucency and widened periodontal ligament. Romexis automatically sends 2D X-ray images to the service and delivers AI detections directly within Romexis platform, eliminating the need to switch between systems.

Cephalometric analysis

Planmeca Romexis® Cephalometric Analysis software module includes easy-to-use tools that make analysing cephalometric images for surgical and orthodontic treatments quick and efficient. The software’s automatic tracing feature places anatomical landmark points and soft tissue silhouettes on a cephalometric image in a matter of seconds – leaving you more time to interpret the results of the analysis.

Planmeca Romexis® Smile Design software module provides quick, user-friendly tools to design a smile using a 2D face photo and intelligent tooth silhouettes in just minutes. The software automatically detects the iris of the patient’s eyes to align the image and proposes a smile silhouette. You can easily adjust the position, shape, and size of each tooth individually to achieve the desired look and optimal fit.

Movement correction for clearer CBCT images

Our Planmeca CALM® patient movement correction feature employs an advanced machine learning algorithm to deliver consistently sharp CBCT images by automatically correcting any patient movement during the imaging process. The algorithm addresses even subtle movements, accurately tracking and correcting them to restore consistency in the X-ray data.
